Ar rahman's next big projet will be in the malayalam Industry. Ar rahman is believed to be part of the magnum opus historical film, 'Randaamoozham' directed by Hariharan in the scripts of M T Vasudevan Nair. Mohanlal will be in the role of Bheeman in this literary adaptation, which may also feature south Indian stalwarts like Kamal Haasan and Mammooty as Duryodhanana and Karnan. Pitched as the costliest ever movie ever made in Malayalam, 'Randaamoozham' will be on sets by the mid of 2012.
This is his second movie after yodha (1991). Also there were some news that he is involved with the remake of yodha.

Ar rahman has been named for the lifetime achievement award at the dubai international film festival where ar rahman is expected to present a concert.
DIFF Festival Chairman Abdulhamid Juma said: “AR Rahman is an inspiration for countless musicians and composers, and has brought a fresh infusion of talent to the Indian film industry.
 “Through his international foray, working with some of the world’s most accomplished musicians, he demonstrated the power of music to cross all barriers and connect with a global audience.

Rajini's Entrance in Ra One

According to some sources, ar rahman is believed to have scored music for a small scene in the diwali opener, " Ra One ". The scene is the highlight of the film. In the sequence, Rajinikanth and Shah Rukh come together and so, the dramatic effect of the scene depended largely on the background music. That's why SRK and Rajini decided that an extraordinary scene like that needed a special background music that only someone of Rahman's calibre would be able to achieve. Since the music director is a very close friend of Rajini, he immediately made arrangements to start working on the music for the scene." Apparently, Rahman dropped all his commitments abroad and returned to his studio in Chennai to record the music for the scene.

A.R. Rahman has added another jewel to his crown by winning the public choice award for "If I Rise" from "127 Hours" at the World Soundtrack Awards 2011 at Ghent, Belgium.
"Thanks to my fans and the World Soundtrack Academy for the Public Choice award for the score of `127 Hours`," Rahman posted on his Facebook page.
 The World Soundtrack Academy Saturday announced the 2011 winners at the closing of the 38th Ghent International Film Festival.

Rockstar team is planning to conduct concerts in mumbai, delhi and london with whole crew of the rockstar film. Ar rahman is also expected to be a part of the show which is expected to be hosted at mumbai on november 1. This will be a promotional event for the film ' rockstar' which releases on 11/11/11. 

“The buzz around the music is so big that we don’t need any formal music launch. We wanted to do something different, so we thought of this new idea,” says Bhushan Kumar of T-Series.

According to Kumar, the concerts will feature Rahman on stage, and Ranbir may join in too. “We are planning concerts since the film is about music. It will be in Delhi on November 1 and later in London. And by November, I am sure the songs will have become more popular,” he says.

Ar rahman all set to rock and roll

A R Rahman is set to collaborate with rock-and-roll legend Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagg­er in a supergroup called Super Heavy, according to a report in the Rolling Stone magazine. The band, which includes former Eurythmics member Dave Stewart, reggae legend Bob Marley’s youngest son Damian Marley and British soul singer and songwriter Joss Stone is expected to come out with its first album arou­nd Septemb­er this year.
"18 months ago Dave Stewart, Mick Jagger, Damien Marley, Joss Stone and me experimented at a studio in Los Angeles, trying to write songs which had meaning...We had a couple of more sessions after that tying to perfect every song that was written and presently we have around 16 to 18 songs and all the songs have a world sound by contributions from all of us

Dave's and Mick's incredible musicality and Joss' soul singing, Damien Marley's Jamaican influence and philosophies and me bringing musicality from my world." he posted this in his profile.

Ar rahman to work with yash chopra

Next big news for rahmaniacs is that A.R. Rahman is all set to work with Mr. yash chopra and sharukhan in his next film. Rahman had recently posted details about this venture in his facebook profile. I'm sharing it here:

"Yash Chopra to collaborate with music maestro A. R. Rahman

Yashraj Films and A. R. Rahman are very proud to announce the next project directed by Yash Chopra.

For the first time, Yashji and A. R. Rahman have come together for the music of this project. It is indeed special to have these two industry stalwarts collaborating on a film.

Speaking on this, Yash Chopra was effusive in his praise for the talented music director. "I am starting work on the music of my, as yet, untitled film with the very talented Rahman. Apart from the great honour that he has consistently brought to our country, he is also someone that has created some outstanding and memorable music, something which is very important and dear to me and my films. I am looking forward to creating some wonderful music combining Rahman's contemporary world music sensibilities and my old world sensibilities of lilting melodies."

A. R. Rahman, while speaking about working with Yashji for the first time said, "I am very excited to work with Yashji and I am humbled by his faith in me for his film. I have seen that Yashji always portrays music as the inevitable essence of love and divinity in his movies. I hope, as a team, we can bring tremendous joy to all."

On the various conjectures about the cast for his movie, Yashji also said, "Everyone knows that when I make a movie, Shahrukh will be involved with it. He is like family to YRF and I have always regarded him as one of my own. There will be two leading ladies in my film. But, in the past, people like Naushad experimented with Hindustani classical music which I think has been completely forgotten. People don't experiment anymore and think that Hindustani classical music won't work. For me, coming from the south, it was just a little step to learn Punjabi music. The nuances are louder in Punjabi music. Songs like Mukkala muqqabla or Humma humma had more of the Tamil folk music in it. But now, I am working with people like Subhash Ghai who have opened up the Punjab in me. So you can except Taal music music to fill up all the holes :-)

Geeth: I have not done any traditional classical movies as yet. For film music, a tune should be fresh and almost all the simple ragas have been exploited by my predecessors. So, as far as I'm concerned, I treat a raga like a note in western music. So Sawaraswati and Hami Kalyani are very related and they provide a nice change from the traditional tunes you have heard before.

Siv: Mostly the films I have done after Pudiya Mugam were Prabhudeva movies and most of the tunes were set to match his dancing. It was a circle in which we got entangled but I got out of it, realising the lack of melody and short cut of rhythms. Das: I had some golden rules when I started my first film, Roja. These rules were good lyrics, good thought, good melodies, good recording and good presentation. But I think Gentleman was to break the rule completely because Shankar wanted commercial music for the film to break the monotony for the serious subject. So we did it, and gave it full blast to them. Unfortunately the success of the rhythm-based compositions reached the masses much faster than normal Roja type of music and the trend became an epidemic coz it was easy and safe. I was pushed by producers to make similar kind of stuff. But rhythm-based compositions can be listend only for a very short time, though we put in too much energy in polishing it. But later, I realised that the golden rules were going out of my hand. I think we are back to normal.

Rajan: THe whole music of Iruvar was a reflection of Vishwanathan Ramamurthy and K V M's music coz the film demanded such kind of music. I think the little extra elements in Iruvar's music added a personal touch. Like Vishwa Mohan Bhatt's Mohan Veena and the rock guitar contrasted nicely.

Muthu: I had a light music band in 81-82 and we mainly used to play Illayaraja's and MSV's music. What I learnt from him is that musicians needed to take cociane and alchohol to compose good music, music discipline and music with variety. During my days with him, I was a pet. Since he had worked for my father, he regarded me like his son. But I was working nearly around 13 years in films and his was the last two years. I needed a change, that's why I took up a diferent genre of music. He is a genuis!

Raju: Ranjit Barot has composed Vande Mataram 2 for Bharatbala... Thiruda Thiruda: S P Bala sung for me in Taal. He is concentrating on acting and, since we record instantaneously and due to shooting pressue, one is forced to use other singers because of SP's non-availability. He has a very good voice.

Mr Rahman, I thought you wanted to clear up the controversies surrounding the following -- do you think that the usage of synthesized sound makes a song seem less creative. For example, with systhesized beats, other artistes could have used the same beats. in this case, listeners may mistakenly think that the whole song was copied. Like the rhythm in Telephone manipol from Indian (many of my friends in the US commented that the song sounds like 'I saw the sign' from Ace Of Base, even though the tune was different)

Siv: There was a trend all over the world for programmers to make music with loops. It was very new and made it easy to do songs. But I have equippped myself better now and I'm able to produce far better rhythm stuff originally. Though the Telephone song was orginal, some of the loops resembled the kind used by Ace Of Base. And these things are avoided completely now.

Academy award winning music director ar rahman is going to lend his track, 'sajna' from the hollywood movie ' couples retreat' to micheal bolston who is now on the process all set to win hearts around the globe. Rahman was originally supposed to sing the chorus on the track, Bolton will now be recording the entire track himself, including the chorus which is sprinkled with Hindi.

Next big project for ar rahman will be the much awaited raana. Some say that 3 tunes are already completed for raana. Any way there is feast for our ears later this year. There was a cloud of confusion over the film till earlier this month but now all the wait is over. The shooting begins for the much hyped periodic film, raana starring superstar rajini kanth and deepika padukone in lead roles. The film will be directed by mr. K.S. Ravikumar and will be produced by EROS International.

Ar rahman nagpur live concert

As part of his Jai ho world tour, ar rahman will conduct a live concert in the nagpur city. Come May 15 and the Nagpurians will have a lifetime opportunity to witness Oscar and double Grammy award winner AR Rahman in a live concert. An NGO, Bodhi Foundation, is the organizer of what could perhaps be the music maestro's first show in India after winning the prestigious Oscars. He will perform in a live concert with his big troupe of over 100 artists and technicians.

"The event would be staged at Nagpur University's huge tract beside its guesthouse on Ambazari Road," said Bodhi Foundation secretary, Lalit Khobragade. The funds generated from the event would be donated to a women's empowerment project undertaken by the NGO at Katlabodi.

Khobragade stated that this will be perhaps biggest entertainment show in the city's history with as many as 60,000 viewers expected to witness the musician who made the country proud by winning many top music awards. The ticket rates for their two and half hours mega concert would begin from Rs 1,000 for a chair and ends at Rs 25,000 for the sofa for three persons. "We're also expecting crowd from neighbouring states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and also from nearby cities," Khobragade said.

Though he refused to divulge details as to how much was paid to the music legend who revolutionsied the Hindi music industry with a string of hits starting from Roja that shattered all box office records, the NGO secretary stated that Rahman would also bring in hi-tech equipment, music system and lights which is hallmark of all his shows.

He also disclosed that many renowned singers from Rahman's group would perform live on the stage. "The spot would be converted into a huge open air theatre to accommodate 60,000 people and also their vehicles. Currently, we're levelling the 20-acre land," he said.
