Ar rahman to perform in tamil conference

Oscar award winning tamilian Ar rahman is set to compose theme song for world tamil conference which is going to be held this year at coimbatore. Tamilians from all over the world are expected to attend the conference which will be presided by our chief minister mr. karunanidhi. Mr. cheif minister was very glad with the suggestion of ar rahman as the composer for the theme song for the conference.

The BBC Asian Network will dedicate a whole day of programming to the celebrated composer, A.R. Rahman on Thursday 14 January.Ar rahman's overseas fans increased with some of the successful projects he did in Hollywood.

A.R. Rahman first came to the attention of Western audiences with his film music for ELIZABETH: THE GOLDEN AGE and stage shows BOMBAY DREAMS and THE LORD OF THE RINGS, however, it is for SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE that the composer has received international acclaim. Since its release in January 2009, he has won several awards, including two Oscars, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and is nominated for two Grammy Awards at the end of this month.

On A.R. Rahman Day, the BBC Asian Network will be honouring this success by telecasting programs based on him. some interviews about him and some  from him too..

Vinnai thandi varuvaya which was released today makes record sales all over India. Maestro AR Rahman and Gautham Vasudeva Menon have created audio history as there had been a terrific advance booking for theirVinnai Thandi Varuvaaya (VTV) audio!

A spokesperson of Sony Music said: "For the first time ever even before the release of the album, Amazon.com has overwhelming pre-release response for CD orders of VTV audio. The CD has already been marked as number 1 in the category of 'Music World Music FarEast & Asia.' It clearly means before the release it is already the top seller in Far East and Asia category. No other product has got such a response on Amazon."

VTV is ARR's first composition after the success of Oscar Winning Slumdog Millionaire. The album features singers Karthik, Naresh Iyer, Benny Dayal, , Blaaze, Devan Ekambaram,Vijayprakash, Shreya Ghoshal, Chinmayi, Suzaane, Alphonse, Kalyani Menon and Rahman himself. The album's lyrics have been penned by Thamarai. The album has six songs in Tamil, one in Malayalam and a theme track by the academy award winner himself.

Meanwhile the first ever rocking song from VTV, Hosanna… sung by Blaaze, Vijayaprakash and Suzaane will debut on all FM stations in Tamil Nadu today (January 9). On Tuesday (January 12), AR Rahman, Gautham Vasudeva Menon and Sony Music will officially launch the soundtrack.
