Ar rahman is the CNN IBN indian of the year

Ar rahman was conferred the indian of the year title by ourr prime minister mr. manmohan singh at a function at New delhi. Ar rahman beat his competitors like rahul gandhi, saina nehwal to get this title.
Prime minister praised Ar rahman for his acheivements and said his works were inspirational. 
“Rahman’s music is inspirational... When I heard Rahman in the White House, you cannot imagine the sense of joy and achievement...,” Dr. Singh said, conferring the CNN-IBN Indian of the Year award on the Oscar-winning music director. 
Ar rahman was also conferred the best entertainer of the year award. He said that lessening the divides is his intention. As usual he attributed his victory and glory to god by saying , ' எல்லா புகழும் இறைவனுக்கே ' .
The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar.

Ar rahman's calender not just for counting the days

'Mozart of madras' ar rahman has always emerged as the gentle and philonthropic member of kollywood community.
The A R Rahman Foundation has produced a special 2010 desk top calendar in collaboration with Worldlight, a subsidiary of Audio Media Education.

The highlight of the calendar is that it features the Mozart of Madras in various moods captured by Selva Kumar, photographer and CEO of Audio Media Education India.

It also has some of Rahman’s thoughts on universal themes like music, language and love.

The A R Rahman Foundation is presently providing free education in music, to 30 students from corporation schools in Chennai. The vision of the A R Rahman Foundation is to strive towards making poverty history.

As a first step towards achieving this vision, the foundation will set up educational institutions and provide world class infrastructure and education to underprivileged children who do not have the means and fund their education.

K.M music conservatory statrs admission

Oscar award winner, mr. Ar rahman's music school- K.M music conservatory has started accepting applications from prospective students. It is now one of the leading schools around the world giving education in music. Apart from ordinary music , some special training is also given for efficient handling of technology in music. The courses offered at K.M music conservatory is technically sound. Now K.M music conservatory has opened admissions for four semesters long diploma course starting next year.

Latest project for Oscar award winner Ar rahman in Tamil is vinnai thandi varuvaya. The music score for the film is fully completed and the music for the same is releasing on 18Th December at London. Ar rahman, gautham menon and actors playing lead roles in the film will be attending the function. The function is set to be hosted in a theater located in London. Silambarasan and Trisha are playing the lead roles. The film is directed by gautham menon. The film shoot is also finished and it will be released in the January. Ar rahman rockz kolkatta

Rahman magic works again. At kolkata concert spectators were speechless after the concert. They were held spellbound for three hours by Ar rahman at salt lake stadium.

"Yeh haseen wadiyan yeh khula aasmaan" from roja, "Kehna hai kya" and "Tuhi re" from bombay,were some of the songs sung at the concert. sadhana also rocked the crowd with "Jiya jale jaan jale"

Rahman took the control then with his harmonium. He enthralled audiences with "khwaja khwaja" (my favourite) and "maula maula"

"In Los Angeles, when somebody asked me which audience appreciated your music the best, I could only think of Kolkata," said Rehman who was performing here after six years.

Recalling his past experience in the city, he said: "If I have to hug each one of you, it would take me two years but I would still do that."

Now as a teacher

Ar rahman is planned to include Micheal Jackson as a subject at his music school(K.M. music conservatory). He will give the first lecture on Micheal Jackson's life, music and his influence on his fans.

"I have been inspired by Michael and his works for years now. I had met him and though he was such a big star, he was always a very humble human being. That really touched and inspired me. I think he was an inspiration for an entire generation. His music must have influenced countless musicians across the world and it would be an honour for me to have the students of my music school learn and discuss the artist of the century," Rahman told DNA.

Ar rahman's show in doordarshan

Ar rahman is going to host a music show in doordarshan to mark its golden jubilee. Doordarshan was started in 1959. Ar rahman is associated with doordarshan for many years..

“I have been associated with them 29 years back, when I used to play for a children programme and it used to be famous. So, it’s great to be back on 50Th anniversary of Doordarshan,” Rahman told ANI (Asian News International).

The program will be shown on TV from December. “We are planning to come up with a major programme in the coming months along…under the guidance of Mr. A R Rahman for that show, which would be coming very soon on Doordarshan,” director general of doordarshan said.

Ar rahman is going to conduct a free concert. Not in India but in Australia. He is going to perform at Sydney festival. Academy award winning music director Mr. Ar rahman will be performing in a free concert at parramatta park on Saturday 16 January as part of the 2010 festival program. Fever 104 fm ropes in AR rahman for a contest

Fever 104 FM, the official partner of the Jai ho concert has roped in Mr. Rahman for a singing contest. The concert will be organised at salt lake on November 14 2009. The winner of the contest will sing with AR rahman.

The contest will test their singing skills. The contestants have to call an IVRS number and sing their favourite rahman song. Fever 104 FM will pick five best in the city. They will meet AR rahman and audition with Ar rahman.

AR's next doctorate from anna university.

Anna university conferred a special doctorate on music maestro ar rahman on the convocation function held at anna university in keeping with the birth centenary of former chief minister mr. anna durai. This is his third doctorate after one from middle sex university and aligarh muslim university. Along with him deputy chief minister mr. stalin and scientist mr. m. annadurai also got the honorary doctorate degree.
